Should I make the 240Z Electric?

Today, while I was hard at work, a buddy of mine sent me a link to a car on Ebay, it was a 1984 Rabbit GTI with 517 original miles. I was looking at the car in amazement, seeing it was in St. Louis, and more so in Creve Couer, near where we used to live.

From there I clicked on another link, I'm not even sure which one, and I came across a list of cars, one that peaked my interest, a 356 speedster replica. I decided to check it out, and then I started reading more realizing it was also local to St. Louis, but get this. It is electric! I thought, oh that's cool, but then I scrolled down and started watching the video embedded into the ebay page. I'm 68 minutes into it, it's a 91 minute video.

This is awesome, I so want to turn the 240Z into an electric car now! I know a guy who works for A123Systems, I wonder if I couldn't get a good deal on some batteries? :)

If you've got some time to kill, check out the video! You can also watch more of his videos at http://evtv.me it looks like I've got videos to watch for a week now! Maybe I can download them and watch them on the plasma.

Actually, Natalie and the Neighbors are on the right track. They're just not thinking BIG enough. It's not the muffler needed, its LOSE that POS engine and replace it with a nice quiet brand new Netgain 11HV motor and a Zilla 1KHV controller. I watched a couple of your videos, and you are a NATURAL for an electric conversion. You even have crocs. You know, they come in yellow, blue and green as well. So join my army and change that Z80 to electric drive. Jack Rickard http://evtv.me

I'm currently working on converting my 240Z to electric. I'm in contact with another guy who is well into the same project, and I know of one that has been completed and driven for years. Go for it!

Jack, thanks for the comment. I must admit you definitely have me intrigued. I need to start reading what all is really involved with making this happen. If I was still in Missouri I would drive down and visit you!

Actually, I used to live in Colorado. I still have a house on Bellevue Ave near C470 in Morrison. It has a lighthouse in it. I rarely go there anymore. Anyway, stay with it. You're a natural. Jack Rickard http://evtv.me

Jack, I like the PackageZilla option that EVComponents offers, though I also realize it'll be a long time before I have the budget for that :) I have a feeling something like this is going to take me YEARS to put together, and afford. Of course it'll take me years to learn it all as well, so that'll probably work out well :D
